Dave's G.C.S.E. Maths site

Hello, my name is Dave, and welcome to my maths site, you can skip this blurb and go straight to the subject list if you like, if not then here comes a little bit about my site ethos. Sometime ago I attempted to learn to be a maths teacher, unfortunately, I wasn't particularly blessed with the ability to control massive hoardes of children, however on a one to one basis, I believe myself to be quite a good teacher of the subject and indeed have helped at least one pupil attain the highest grade possible for themselves considering the papers they sat. I am somewhat dissilusioned with the state of the education system in this country and believe that given the opportunity earlier in life, many pupils would sail through maths given quiet time to study (I myself passed the old 'O' level maths when I was 11 years old with the aid of my Dad) so this is what this site is all about. It doesn't care how old you are, young or old, if you have the interest then you will learn, if you don't you won't, it's that simple. On the way, I will do everything that I can to help you, and if I can't then I will find a man who can because not all of us are that interested in just extracting money from the internet (and yes, I am a star trek fan before you ask!) and are willing to help in anyway we can make the world a better more enlightened place to live in. Baring this in mind, I started this site so I could help people with what is commonly regarded (usually amongst the older I might add) as a hard subject, this simply isn't true, if you have the time, the inclination and the will, you can achieve anything. Another reason I have for starting this site is that my job is immensly boring and I can feel my skills slowly becoming rusty, so in an effort to keep my hand in, and maybe in due course even better myself, this seems a reasonable thing for me to do. One final thing that may be worth pointing out is that I plan to continue to update this page with an abundance of learning material with a blatant disregard for any copywrite issues, until the day I die (so in about 40 years if I survive, it should really kick some ass) I have a firm unwavering belief in the freedom of information, so if you have anything that may be useful, please mail it to me at [email protected] so I can post it, at the moment I am particularly interested in finding past papers from all the exam boards, as I have found they are really quite hard to come by.

Oh and another thing, if you need a subject covering, or you have any additions, better methods (I like to call them more elegant solutions) or corrections (yes, I do sometimes make mistakes, I like you am only human) then you should also mail me at [email protected] once I've covered a subject, answered a question or come up with easier/harder questions as requested, then I will post the answers for all to benefit from. As this site is very young, there is little content, just what I have written without direction, if there is anyone out there that genuinely needs help, then I'd rather do something useful with my time. Generally a reply will come quicker than the post, which I guess will take about 2 weeks to get around to depending on what I'm up to, it could be almost instant or take a little longer, as I do have a real life to attend to sometimes ;)

So if you're ready for it, here comes the information :)
